    From Anonymous: I find "But Why" extremely compelling. I see the the caress as a parting touch. With both the caress and the intensity of the eyes of the face caressed express the title question: "But Why" The question is unanswered in this portrait and therein lies the compulsion. In life I find many things better left unsaid.
